The program includes a theoretical and a practical session. During the theoretical session, our biologists and trainers illustrate elements of Biology and Natural History of Cetaceans and introduce participants to training techniques; the program continues with a “behind the scenes” visit to the technological plants for disinfection, management and water control. Before moving on to the actual practical phase, there will be a visit to the lagoon to meet the 11 “resident” bottlenose dolphins and Mary G. (the baby stork rescued by the Cetacea Foundation and temporarily a guest of the Oltremare park), which will provide an opportunity to talk about conservation and the problems linked to cetacean beaching. With boots and a perfect trainer's outfit, the practical phase begins, which includes a close encounter with the dolphins: under the expert guidance of the Lagoon's staff, it will be possible to get to know them up close!!! All “trainers for a day” are offered: parking, free access to Oltremare Park, a show at the IMAX theater, lunch, educational and technical material, a T-shirt, shorts and a backpack themed, 2 photos taken during the day, the certificate of participation. The program takes place every weekend in March and daily in the following months. Oltremare opened on March 8, 2008.
